Inspirational Quotes

One of the things I've missed in the new Windows 7 operating system is the scrolling banner that could be set as your screensaver. Many times I would type something in there as a reminder or just put up the latest inspirational quote I had come across.

Since it is now among many of those programs that were once freebies and taken away I'll share with you some of those quotes that used to parade across my screen in the days of XP:

  • All life is an experiment, the more you make, the better!
  • Always do what you're afraid to do.
  • Enthusiasm is the mother of effort, and without it nothing great was ever achieved.
  • What lies in front of you, and what lies behind you, pales in comparison to what lies inside of you.
  • You dont get what you wish for - you get what you work for.
  • If you keep doing the same thing, you'll get the same results
  • Every wall is a door.
  • To be lucky - and luck always plays a part - you have to get in its path.
  • If you fail to plan - plan to fail.
  • the more you learn, the more you earn
  • Dimes make Dollars

Until next time . . .

Polka Anyone?

In a couple of weeks the NFL will return to action, which comes to no one’s surprise even after an off season lockout, too much money at stake for anyone to walk away from. There will be some rule changes and some new salary cap adjustments to start off the season, but the biggest change in the game will probably be that for the first time in nearly 20 years there will be no Brett Farve on the field to start the season. After a Hall of Fame career and a nearly as famous waffling dilemma on whether he would, or would not, retire after the last four or five seasons I believe Brett has finally gone to the Big Farm in the South. Many have chastised Farve for his indecision and many more – especially the Packer fans - are glad to bid him good riddance, but I can empathize with Brett somewhat. You see, it’s got to be tough when you find something you love to do only to be told that your time has come, long before you’re ready to collect a gold watch and social security. As a DJ that has hit the 50 mark (and I’m not talking gigs here) I often have worried when my time will come, when many think I’m too old to be a DJ.
Even after 20 years though I still look forward to every event, I still get nervous at every wedding. It has not gotten old for me. Brian Beez, who does events for us, is our oldest DJ on staff, but he is also the biggest kid we have, and I mean that in a good way. He still gets fired up for every event and never seems to tire. I once said to Kevin Hedley, who owns the local Uncle Ike’s franchise, that I was either going to keep going until no one would hire me anymore or I was going to be doing polka parties in the nursing homes when I'm 70 something.
“But when we get there,” Kevin reasoned, “we’ll probably still be listening to AC/DC yet.”

Great! I wonder if Brett will be there playing touch football.
