Trivia, TBC and the latest Party Tip

How has summer of '09 been going for you? It's funny, whenever I play Summer of 69 by Bryan Adams I think how dated that song sounds now. 1969 has been 40 years ago.
Things have gone well for us. We've had some busy weekends and, after some very slow weeks on the phone, we are starting to hear it ring more often now - and that's a good thing. My wife and I did manage to get a few free days and took our children to Chicago. I love the windy city, but after being there about five times in the last six years I'm ready to take a break from it.
On the music biz end we've had a couple of interesting things going on. First, we updated our ceremony system with a new dual mp3 player with more microphone capabilites. This will enable us to not only provide more than just a microphone for our officiate (say maybe a reader or a live singer), but also will give us better audio quality.
And, if you caught our last post, we have our first "rough draft" ready to go for our Interactive Trivia Night website. Although not quite ready to go LIVE with it yet, (we still have to register the domain) you can view it by going to here.
TBC News - Many of you know of our relationship with the local teen band To Be Continued. For those of you who don't, let me catch you up: To Be Continued and Alexxus Entertainment first worked together at the bands very first gig at an eighth grade school dance back in 2006. I found the lads very energetic and their music clean and funky. They were very marketable. Since that time we have worked together at several school functions and even a company picnic. Along the way the boys were named the Best Area Teen Band by the local newspaper. Part of their prize was a free recording session in a local recording studio. With their studio time they recorded an album with all of their own original material and titled it Just Another Summer. They put their music on the internet and it was "discovered" by a nationally known music producer, Rick Finch (KC and the Sunshine Band, among others). Rick invited the boys to his recording studio in Ohio and cut some demos with them.
UPDATE: The boys were recently invited back to Ohio for some more recording sessions with Rick Finch. One of the songs, Waiting Room, has been picked up by radio stations in Lousiana and Columbus, Ohio and added to their current air play list. Could the boys have their first true hit? Now, if we could just get someone to book them in the local area . . .
And finally, here is Party Tip #6 from pyschologist, hypnotist, business coach an fellow DJ, Dan Nichols:

Don't put the older guests next to the dancefloor/speakers. If you have to ask why, then you may want to hire a harpist all night.
See you all next time!
