The band Lynnard Skynnard was named after gym teacher Leonard Skinner, at Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville, Florida. Skinner was notorious for strictly enforcing the school's policy against boys having long hair.
Having trouble getting repeat bookings, bands took to changing their name frequently to continue playing the London club circuit in the sixties and seventies. Band names were often supplied by their booking agents. One of those agents, a history enthusiast, eventually christened one of his bands "Jethro Tull" after an 18th-century agriculturist. The name stuck because they were using it the first time a club manager liked their show enough to invite them to return.
"Starfish" was the original name for the band now known as Coldplay. Originally that name belonged to a group of friends’ band, but when they did not want the name anymore, "Starfish" asked if they could use it instead. The original Coldplay took the name from a book of collected poems.
The Backstreet Boys got their name from a very popular hang out in Orlando called "Backstreet Market."
Queen was originally called Smile. Singer Freddie Mercury came up with the new name for the band, later saying: "Years ago I thought up the name 'Queen.' It's just a name, but it's very regal obviously, and it sounds splendid. It's a strong name, very universal and immediate. It had a lot of visual potential.”
Because they played beat music, and wanted to pay homage to Buddy Holly and the Crickets, John, Paul George and Ringo became known as The Beatles.

- The classic Journey tune Don’t Stop Believin was featured in such films and TV episodes as Scrubs, South Park, The Wedding Singer, Shrek the Halls, Bedtime Stories, Yes Dear, King of the Hill, The Comebacks, View from the Top, Cold Case, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, My Name Is Earl, Just Shoot Me, Monster and Laguna Beach. t was used as the Grand Finale for the TV series The Sopranos and was also featured as the anthem for the Chicago White Sox’s World Series season in 2005.
- Lady Gagas Born This Way debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 dated February 26, 2011. In doing so, it became the 1000th number-one single in the chart's history. This was the first song with the word 'Born' in its title to top the Billboard Hot 100. The previously best 'born' song chart position-wise was Steppenwolf's Born To Be Wild, which peaked at #2 in 1968.
- There has been a lot of speculation as to the meaning of Queens Bohemian Rhapsody. Many of the words appear in the Qu'ran. "Bismillah" is one of these and it literally means "In the name of Allah." The word "Scaramouch" means "A stock character that appears as a boastful coward." "Beelzebub" is one of the many names given to The Devil, but the songs writer, the late Freddie Mercury, claimed the lyrics were nothing more than "Random rhyming nonsense."
- Michael Jacksons Billie Jean was said to be about a girl who claimed that Jackson was the father of her child. Jackson based it on a woman who used to stalk him, writing him letters about a son she thought was his. In his autobiography Moonwalk, Jackson said that producer Quincy Jones wanted to change the title to "Not My Lover" because he thought it would be confused with tennis star Billie Jean King.

LOOK AT ME!
there are some DJs who like to be the center of attention, like the one in the video above. First let me say I like this guys set-up. Very nice. He also is dressed for the occassion. A plus for him. But two things of note:
A) The Bride is standing in the background, but isn't this supposed to be HER day, or did all of the guests come to see this DJ dance for them?
B) Why did he need to clear the dance floor? He only utilizes about a 3'x3' square for his shtick?
Our take: Your DJ should be the facilitator of events, let your guests know what will be happening next and work with your other vendors to help give you a stress free and memorable wedding day. They do NOT need to be the center of attention.
It is the Bride and Grooms day to shine, not the DJs!
Until next time - Mike
